Privacy Policy for VoidChat

Last Updated: August 2, 2025

Welcome to VoidChat ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our website, voidani.com (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Due to the anonymous nature of our Service, we collect very limited information:

  • Anonymous User ID: When you first use our Service, Firebase Authentication assigns you a temporary, anonymous User ID (UID). This ID is not linked to your real-world identity, email address, or any personal information. It is used solely to distinguish you from other users during a chat session.
  • User-Provided Nickname: The name you enter before starting a chat is temporarily associated with your anonymous UID for the duration of that chat.
  • Chat Content: Text messages, images, and voice notes sent during a chat are processed through our servers but are considered ephemeral.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To operate and maintain the Service, primarily to connect you with another anonymous user for a one-on-one chat.
  • To facilitate the real-time exchange of messages, images, and voice notes between you and your chat partner.
  • To enforce our Terms of Service and prevent abuse, such as by processing user reports.

3. Data Retention and Deletion

We believe in "privacy by design" and retain data for the shortest possible time:

  • Chat Logs: All chat logs, including text messages, are permanently deleted from our database when a chat session ends (i.e., when one user skips or disconnects).
  • Ephemeral Media: Images and voice notes sent through the Service are designed to be deleted immediately from our servers and storage after they have been viewed or played by the recipient.
  • Anonymous User ID: Your anonymous UID is temporary and is not stored long-term.

4. Data Security

We use Firebase, a Google platform, to power our Service. Data in transit between your browser and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Third-Party Services

We may use third-party services like Google AdSense to display advertisements. These services may use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to our website or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting the Ad Settings of the respective provider.

6. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take necessary action.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
