This explains what voidani collects, why, and what you can do about it. voidani is the data controller. We follow the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

An anonymous account id. Created automatically so we can tell one visitor from another. It is not linked to your real identity unless you sign in with Google or an email.
The profile you choose. Display name, age band, gender if you give one, avatar colour, interests. You pick all of it, and none of it is verified.
Your email and name — only if you create an account. Your real name and email are never shown to other users.
Messages and photos, for as long as the conversation exists. Photos are deleted the moment they are opened.
Reports you file or that are filed about you, including the conversation they concern, so a human can review them.
Technical data your browser sends — IP address, device and browser type. Firebase uses your IP to route traffic and to prevent abuse. We do not store it as part of your profile.
Analytics and advertising data — only if you agree to cookies. If you decline, none of this is collected.

Why we are allowed to

To provide the service — performance of our contract with you.
To keep people safe — moderation, bans, blocking and photo scanning. Our legitimate interest in preventing harm and illegal content, which we consider outweighs the limited privacy impact given what is at stake.
Analytics and advertising — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings.
Legal obligations — where we must retain or disclose something by law.

How long we keep it

Photos: deleted when opened, or when the conversation ends.
Conversations: deleted when the chat ends, unless attached to a report.
Reports and bans: kept while needed to enforce them, and to recognise repeat offenders.
Guest identities: gone when you close the tab.
Accounts: kept until you delete yours.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your data. We use processors who handle it on our instructions: Google (Firebase — hosting, database, authentication, storage; Google Analytics; Google AdSense), Daily (voice and video calls), Google Cloud Vision (scanning photos for illegal and sexual content), and OpenAI (moderating room messages, generating replies for AI companions, and translating a message when you ask for it). Some of these process data outside the UK, under the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and Standard Contractual Clauses.

Translation. Nothing is translated unless you tap "translate", or turn on automatic translation yourself in Settings. When you do, that single message is sent to OpenAI, the translation comes back, and neither of us keeps a copy beyond the life of the conversation it belongs to. Your other messages are not sent anywhere.

We will disclose information to law enforcement where we are legally required to, or where we believe it is necessary to prevent serious harm — in particular, child sexual abuse material is reported.

Advertising

If you consent, Google AdSense may show personalised ads and set cookies to do so. Decline, and you will see non-personalised ads or none. You can change this at any time in Settings, and manage Google's own settings at myadcenter.google.com.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email support@voidani.com and we will respond within one month.

You can delete your account and everything attached to it from Settings, without contacting us at all.

If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first — but you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to your local supervisory authority if you are in the EU.

Children

voidani is 18+. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 18. If you believe a child is using voidani, email support@voidani.com and we will act immediately.
